The atmosphere of spring begins to fade little by little in a quiet alley full of exotic scents. In the season when I want to go somewhere, I went for an early spring walk to Seorae Village, a small France in Seoul.
A village full of exotic scents.
Seorae Village full of French sensibility. Warm warmth fills up between the alleys. The wind is still quite cold, but the weather is enough to feel the spring that is just around the corner. Many French people live in Seorae Village. About half of the French in Korea live here. French children's classes are still in full swing at Seoul French School, located on the main street. At the end of class, the streets become more exotic, crowded with French people who came to meet their children.
In Seorae Village, French-style cafes, restaurants, and wine bars are common. It is said that various cafes and shops lost their identity as they became famous in the past, but exotic scents still remain everywhere. Walking through every corner of the alley, sensuous shops, workshops, cafes, and restaurants pop out unexpectedly. Even if it is not necessarily a French sign or a great building, the charm of this village is that every door or prop of the store feels French romance.
In addition, as it is a neighborhood where French people with extraordinary pride live, there are many Holdumbaas in Seorae Village where you can enjoy quite satisfying desserts and enjoy real-time bacara games(korean: 실시간바카라게임) that French people like. In addition, there are many restaurants nearby that have received Michelin stars, so it's not bad to decide to enjoy an "eating tour."
Passing through a French-style black wooden door, I entered a cafe. The dark room is filled with drowsy afternoon sunlight. The eye-catching exotic interior and French language from all sides wriggles my forgotten desire for travel. I decided to feel better after a long time. I ordered coffee and scones and sat near the terrace. I savored the atmosphere of the cafe by looking at various people passing by the window. After a little more time, you will be able to enjoy the spring breeze gently on the outdoor terrace.
Montmartre in Seoul.
You must have filled your stomach a little, so you got out of the main street and headed for the nearby Montmartre Park. Montmartre Park is named after Montmartre, a famous place in Paris, and is also a walking course for residents of Seorae Village and the French living there. There are many art-related sculptures such as Gogh, Gauguin, and Picasso, as they are based on the theme of Montmartre, which is famous for France's "Artist Hill." The view overlooking Seorae Village at a glance is also excellent.
Climbing a low hill along the promenade, you will see a large lawn with a towering clock tower. There are still traces of winter, so the atmosphere is a little bleak, but the spring energy is already evident in the expressions of people playing with their children on the wide grass or with dogs. As spring deepens, you can also enjoy green lawns and French gardens with colorful flowers.
Strangely enough, rabbits live in Montmartre Park. These rabbits were actually abandoned a long time ago, adapting to the environment and breeding, and now they are wild rabbits living in Montmartre Park. It is said that it is also common for family tourists to pack fruits and vegetables and visit rabbits with their children on weekends.
